5 Yoga Asanas for Glowing Skin

Most of us rush to beauty salons to maintain the shine of our skin. While facials and clean ups help us get rid of the excess oils, dirt and the unwanted dead skin to give us a smooth flawless skin, however these are temporary solutions and are quite costly too.

A natural way to get a healthy and glowing skin is to follow a yoga regime. Yoga helps in releasing stress and improves the blood and oxygen circulation in our body thereby impacting our mental and physical health positively. Read on to find out about the asanas that especially help in attaining a radiant and beautiful skin.

Kapal Randhra Dhouti

This rejuvenating yogic facial massage stimulates the facial nerves and renders a natural glow over a period of time.

  • Massage your forehead gently with your fingers starting from the middle of your forehead to the temples.
  • Massage the area around your eyes in a circular motion.
  • Pinch your eyebrows along their length.
  • Massage your cheeks in outward direction.

Anulom Vilom Pranayam

This simple yet powerful yoga asana ensures proper blood circulation throughout your body and makes your skin glow naturally. Besides it also helps you de-stress, keeps your lungs and nervous system healthy, fights cold and improves blood glucose and cholesterol levels.

  • Sit cross legged with your spine erect.
  • Place your thumb on one nostril and fold your index finger.
  • Close your other nostril with the ring finger of the same hand.
  • Inhale deeply through one nostril keeping the other closed with your ring finger.
  • Open the other nostril to exhale and close the one with which you inhaled.

Practice this for three to five minutes initially. You may increase the duration to around 20 minutes gradually. Make sure you practice Anulom Vilom Pranayam at a place that has enough fresh air. Also this asana must be practiced on empty stomach. Taking deep breath with both the nostrils also helps you de stress and rejuvenates your skin.

Yoni Asana

 This asana de-stresses you and brings a radiant glow on your face.

  • Sit cross legged on the floor and close your eyes.
  • Place your index fingers on your eyes, small fingers below your lower lips, ring fingers above your upper lips, middle fingers on your nostrils and thumbs on your ears. Do not exert pressure with your thumb or fingers.
  • Your elbows must be set parallel to the ground.

Stay in this position for 10 minutes and focus on your breath.

Kapalbhati

Kapalbhati helps in detoxifying lungs and respiratory tracks. It purifies blood and improves blood and oxygen circulation in the body thereby rendering a natural glowing skin.

  • Sit cross legged with your spine erect.
  • Take a deep breath exhaling swiftly, making a puffing sound. Focus on exhaling.
  • Pull your abdominal muscles inward as you exhale.

Repeat the same 10 times. Perform two sets taking small breaks in between.

Yog Asana

 Another asana to watch your skin glow!

  • Sit cross legged on the floor with your hands at the back.
  • Grasp your left wrist with your right hand.
  • Inhale and pull your shoulders back expanding your chest.
  • Exhale and bend forward to touch your right knee with your forehead.
  • Inhale returning back to the starting position.
  • Repeat all the steps and touch your left knee with the forehead and then touch the forehead in the middle.

Practice this for about 10 minutes regularly.
