Chilli Cheese Toast
Chilli Cheese Toast is one of the easiest snacks to make. It needs only a few easily available ingredients and yet it tastes delicious, especially when it is piping hot. The two type of chillies, green chillies, and bell pepper give it a spicy bite and crunchy texture. The toasted bread adds to the crunchiness. Cheese gives it added flavor. Ginger gives it an Indian touch.
Ingredients
- 50 grams Cheese (grated)
- 1 large Green Bell Pepper (de-seeded and chopped finely)
- 2 Green Chillies (de-seeded and chopped finely)
- 4 Bread Slices (crust removed)
- 20 grams Butter (at room temperature)
- Salt to taste
- ½ inch Ginger (grated)
- 1 tablespoon Fresh Coriander Leaves (chopped finely)
Instructions
-
If making in the oven, preheat it to 180 degrees for 10 minutes
-
Mix together the chopped bell peppers, green chillies, grated cheese, coriander leaves, and ginger.
-
Sprinkle a little salt to taste.
-
Apply a thin layer of butter on both sides of all the bread slices.
-
Place a heaped tablespoon of the prepared mixture on each slice.
-
Spread it carefully and neatly all over the slices.
-
Pop in the preheated oven for 5 minutes till the cheese melts and the slices turn crisp.
-
If making on tawa, place the prepared slices on the tawa and put on low flame.
-
Apply little butter on the tawa as well.
-
Invert a heavy pan on the tawa in order to trap the heat as this helps in melting the cheese quickly.
-
As the tawa gradually heats up, the bread slices turn crisp at the base and the cheese melts too.
-
This takes about 5 to 7 minutes.
-
Ready all the slices similarly.
-
Cut into triangles and serve hot with tomato sauce
