Delicious onion rings make for an awesome appetizer. Prepared with the most basic ingredients like self
raising flour, milk and of course, onions, this tasty dish is used as snacks.
The crispiness of onion rings can be greatly enjoyed with various sauces and home-made chutneys. The green pudina (mint) chutney or the green dhaniya (fresh coriander) chutney makes a great combination with onion rings. However, those who love a sweet-sour taste can also try tamarind chutney with these flavorsome rings.
- Onions 2 Large
- Maida 1 heaped Cup + 2 tablespoon
- Milk as needed
- Red chilli flakes 1 teaspoon
- Salt to taste
- Bread 3 slices
- Oil for deep frying
Toast the bread slices lightly and then blitz in the grinder to get toasted bread crumbs.
Chop the onions to get ¼ inch roundels and separate the onion rings. Use only the larger ones. Keep aside the smaller ones to use in some other dish.
Take maida in a bowl and add salt, red chilli flakes. Add milk little by little to make a smooth batter.
Heat oil for deep frying the rings.
Now, take 3 tablespoons maida in a plate. Dip the rings so that they get well coated. Now, dip them in the batter.
Then gently lift each and dip in the bread crumbs. Let them get covered well. Tap gently to remove the excess.
Slide each ring in the hot oil. Fry on low flame till golden brown on both sides.
Remove on paper towels. Ready all the rings similarly.
Serve hot with any spicy dip or sauce.
