Eggless chocolate cupcakes recipe | How to make chocolate cupcakes

Cupcakes if you buy from outside are mostly prepared using eggs. So, what if you want something without egg. Here is the recipe of eggless cupcakes using chocolate. You can skip cocoa powder if you don’t want plain vanilla flavor.

  • 120 gms All purpose flour
  • 40 gms Cocoa Powder
  • 120 gms Powdered Sugar
  • 150 ml Milk at room temperature
  • 60 gms Butter at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon Vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Essence
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Choco Chips optional
  • 10 Cashew Nuts or Walnuts crushed coarsely (optional)


  1. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees for 10 minutes.
  2. Place cupcake liners in cupcake molds.
  3. Take the milk in a bowl and add the vinegar to it.
  4. Let it stand for 5 minutes. The milk will split.

  5. Add the oil and vanilla essence to it.
  6. Take all the dry ingredients like the maida / whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, salt, powdered sugar and baking soda in a bowl.

  7. Whisk the mixture 2 to 3 times with a balloon whisk so that everything comes together.
  8. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ones and again whisk to get a homogeneous batter.
  9. The batter will not be too thick but will have a thinner consistency.
  10. At this point, if the batter is too thick, depending on the quality and variety of flour used, adjust by adding little milk.
  11. Add the choco chips, walnuts/cashew nuts and gently mix once more.

  12. Now, put about 3 tablespoons of batter in each liner.

  13. Based on the size of the cupcake liners and molds used, always fill them only to the halfway mark.

  14. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 18 minutes.

  15. Depending on the individual oven, baking time might vary, so keep on eye on after the first 12 minutes.
  16. Check with a toothpick inserted in the center of one of the cupcakes.
  17. If it comes out clean, they are done.
  18. Remove them and place on wire rack to cool for 5 minutes.
  19. Then, lift each liner out of the molds and let it cool for 5 more minutes.

  20. Serve warm or as preferred.
