7 Amazing Home Remedies for Dark Underarms

How often do you shy away from wearing sleeveless kurtis, tank tops or  spaghetti straps? I am sure, unwaxed underarms is not the sole reason. Could it be that you feel inferior about exposing your dark underarms? Gotcha!

There is a plethora of skin lightening creams and lotions swarming the market promising a fair underarm skin. But if you are uncomfortable using a chemical based cosmetic or haven’t achieved the desired results yet, then the following home remedies for dark underarms should work wonders for you.

The acidic properties of milk help in curing skin darkening. Immerse a cotton ball in milk and rub it on your underarms to get rid of the dirt. Wash off to get a softer, smoother and visibly fairer skin. You can also make a paste by adding a teaspoon of curd and some gram flour in milk to form a smooth paste. Apply it on your underarms and let it remain for around 15 minutes. Rinse off with cold water.

Sandalwood is known for rendering a natural glow. No wonder, it is used in a number of face packs. The skin lightening properties of this aromatic wood work wonder on the armpits too. Add some rose water in sandalwood powder and mix it well to form a smooth paste. Apply it on your underarms, let it dry and then wash off.

Known for its bleaching and acidic properties, lemon also helps in lightening the skin. Cut a lemon wedge and rub it on your underarms for about 3-5 minutes. This will exfoliate your skin and help in getting rid of the dead skin cells. To make it more effective you can add some sugar on the lemon wedge. Wash off and apply a good moisturizer to avoid skin drying.
