Vazhakkai Podi | Raw Banana Powder
- 1 Raw Banana
- 4 tbsp Tuvar Dal (arhar)
- 1 small piece Asafoetida
- 1 sprig Curry Leaves
- 1 tsp Chilli Powder
- 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1 tbsp Til Oil
- 1 small piece Tamarind
- Salt to taste
Roast the raw banana on flame or boil it in a pressure cooker.
Let it cool, peel the skin and cut into small pieces.
Heat a pan with 1 tsp oil. Add asafoetida, tuvar dal, curry leaves, chili powder. Fry until the dal turns golden. Now add 1 tsp mustard seeds. When they splutter, switch off.
After it is cooled, blend in a mixer.
Now add the raw banana pieces from step 2, salt and tamarind and blend it again.
In case the mixture looks very dry, add 1 tsp of til oil and grind it.
Vazhaika podi is ready. Serve it with hot rice and til oil.
